Frequently Asked Questions

A: The question is really, "Does the insurance take us?"  Ask your physician (MD, DO, DDS) for a prescription for Manual Therapy or Myofascial Therapy, and pay us for your visit.  We will issue a receipt to you and you can then submit it to your insurance company for reimbursement.

A: We accept cash, checks, travelers' checks, money orders and gift certificates.

A: Yes, we offer gift certificates!  Give us a call and we will happily mail or hand-deliver it, if it is a same-day request.  You may also purchase one or several during your session.  Unlike our competitors, there will be no expiration date on your gift certificate.  A gift certificate purchase does not qualify for an additional first-time customer discount.

Gift certificates are not redeemable for cash. We do not issue refunds on either gift certificates or appointments paid in advance.

A:  There is a $10.00 discount for your initial session in our office, applicable if your session is one hour or more.  Each time you refer another client to us, who then makes and keeps an appointment, you qualify for either $10.00 off of your next visit or an additional 30 minutes added to your next session.

If you wish to purchase multiple sessions in advance, there is a discount for this, too.  For example, five 1-hour appointments paid in advance would save you either $10.00 discount per appointment ($50.00 total) OR you may add 30 minutes to each of the 5 sessions, for a savings of $150.00.  You'll get five 90-minute sessions for the price of five 1-hour sessions.  THIS IS A $500.00 VALUE FOR $350.00.

Q:  Should I remain clothed during my in-office session?

A:  Clients will be asked to keep on their underpants.  It is your choice as to what other clothing you wish to remove.  Your muscles will receive therapeutic benefit regardless of your state of dress or undress.

Q:  Do you have another location?

A:  No.   We are not affiliated in any way with any other business. We are Richmond Massage Therapy and are at 2707 W. Cary Street, in the City of Richmond.  We do, however, make house calls to anywhere in the Greater Richmond area.

Q:  How long will my appointment be?

A.  You will receive the time in-session for which you paid.  You will be in session for the entire time.  We never charge you or deduct time for consultation, setup or any other factor.

To explain:  most spas, for example, will charge you for a 90-minute session but will only provide 70-80 minutes that you are actually in-session.  We never do this.  When you pay for a session, you will receive that entire session, as you should.  Any other time necessary, such as consultation or giving you time to get on and off of the table, is our treat to you.

Q:  Do you charge extra for house calls?

We do not charge extra to make house calls, if the destination is within 20 minutes of our office on 2707 W. Cary Street, Richmond.  We will also not charge for equipment setup or breakdown.

If your location is more than 20 minutes from our office, there may be a small charge for fuel/mileage.  If we are making a house call for multiple people, we may waive this extra charge.

Q:  I have a contracted, discounted rate with another company; are you able to match that rate?

A:  We have discovered that some massage chains are charging people monthly fees for massage appointments, whether the clients are able to make those appointments or not.  We believe that you have the right to see the Massage Therapist of your choice, and feel that charging clients for something they do not receive is unethical.

If you have special pricing with any other massage therapy business in the Greater Richmond area and you would like to make an appointment with us, we will gladly match the price you are paying under your contract with the other company.  We believe that quality is much more important than quantity and are confident that you will see the difference.

Q:  Will I know who will be working with me before each appointment?
A:  Always.

Q:  How long has the staff been doing Massage Therapy?
A:  Each person working with our clients has had at least 10 years' experience.

Q:  Does anyone on your staff smoke?
A:  Absolutely not!  We would never consider having anyone who smokes work with our clients.  This is a very important issue; tobacco contains harmful chemicals that should never come in contact with your skin or be in the air you breathe.  We would never employ anyone who smokes.
